Blooming Brides is operated by Rita, a second generation florist who has combined her extensive retail, corporate and function experience to create a personalised flower service for weddings in the Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley and eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Surrounded by flowers from birth, Rita spent much of her childhood selling flowers at the family's famous horse and cart flower stall at Rockley Road Gardens, South Yarra. While studying Botany at Melbourne University, Rita serviced the flowers of several of Melbourne’s leading hotels and restaurants including Rockman’s Regency Hotel (now Marriot), The Banks Hotel, The Bryson, Florentino’s Restaurant and Bar, and St Moritz, St Kilda, as well as countless weddings, functions and events. Rita also played a major role in setting the leading design standards at the family's Prahran-based retail florist, "The Big Bunch", from 1992 until its sale in 2006. The Big Bunch was widely recognised as an industry leader for its high-quality flowers and floral design. Rita's approach to designing wedding flowers is to create simple, generous, elegant arrangements using the best locally grown, seasonal blooms. Long-standing relationships with many local growers and dealers ensure an excellent supply of choice wedding varieties. Blooming Brides operates out of a wholesaler’s workshop in Monbulk. Consultations are held at an office in Emerald, where clients can view an extensive folio of images and designs, as well as glassware and containers. |
